Creators film themselves sharing an overhear, a confession, or an inside secret directly to camera, then turn to a second angle as if looping in someone who was left out, mirroring Pedro Pascal's "you should know this too" moment from Hot Ones. Brands use it to surface a product detail, an ingredient truth, or a behind-the-scenes fact that their audience did not know they needed.
The "And You Should Know This Too" trend is an audio trend rooted in a moment from the YouTube series Hot Ones, produced by First We Feast. On March 9, 2023, actor Pedro Pascal appeared as a guest and, at the 24:16 mark of the episode, turned to address a secondary camera (referred to as Camera 2) and delivered the line "You should know this too." The episode accumulated over 15.9 million views on YouTube. The clip went viral on TikTok in late January 2024. On January 31, 2024, TikToker @hey.its.sabbie posted the audio with the caption "when your friends dad involves you into the lecture," reaching over 7 million plays and 1.8 million likes within three weeks; that post is considered the first known memetic use of the clip. Creators adopted the sound to depict scenarios in which someone peripheral to a conversation gets unexpectedly pulled into information not directed at them. By February 21, 2024, the primary TikTok audio had been used in over 9,300 posts.
