Where the day actually goes
If your content calendar says five posts a week and you keep shipping two, the gap is time math. One polished short takes 1 to 2 hours from raw footage to finished file. About a third of that goes to digging the right clip out of a folder of raw footage, a third to cutting and pacing, and the rest to captions and resizing for each platform's aspect ratio and safe zone across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Most teams do that one video at a time in a timeline editor like CapCut or Premiere Pro. At 90 minutes each, five videos is 7.5 hours, a full workday before you write a caption, pick a hashtag, or schedule anything. Most social calendars call for 5 to 7 posts a week. At that per-video cost, two or three is the realistic ceiling, whatever the calendar says.
The fix is batching
The fix is a different process. Batching means running one step across all five videos before moving to the next. A five-video week looks like this:
- Pick 5 ideas in one sitting. Pull from your content pillars so you choose from a prepared list, once, for the whole week.
- Pull existing clips for each idea from footage you already have: creator hauls, an unboxing shoot, a product demo, a customer call. A beauty brand usually has a hard drive of unedited unboxing clips already. That folder feeds the whole batch.

Steps 1, 2, 4, and 5 batch well because they are decisions: which idea, which clip, which crop, which time slot. The fifth decision in a row costs barely more than the first. Step 3 is craft. Matching a cut to a specific piece of footage happens five separate times with five separate answers, and batching does nothing to speed it up.
Why batching is faster
The savings come from cutting context switches. Choosing ideas, pulling clips, editing, and scheduling are different modes, and each switch costs minutes of mental reload. Coming back to idea mode after an editing session means re-reading your pillars and the last few weeks of posts before the next idea feels obvious. Finishing each video start to finish forces four mode switches per video, 20 for a week of five. Batching by step cuts that to four switches for the whole week.
